Your Hub for Immortal Cultivation Novels and Reads

My name is Batin Khan. I have been exploring world mythology for 20 years. I grew up completely absorbed by The Lord of the Rings, the scale, the world-building, the sense that the mythology underneath the story was genuinely vast and old. Science fiction followed. Then games, but back then, games were not as developed as they are now. Anything that offered a coherent world with its own internal logic and something genuinely different from ordinary reality.

By 2015, I was already a committed mythology explorer and fantasy reader when a Reddit thread changed my reading life. Someone recommended Martial Peak for readers who wanted “fantasy with a progression system that actually goes somewhere.” I picked it up on a whim.

I read it obsessively. The cultivation stages, the relentless forward momentum, the world-building that kept expanding the further the protagonist climbed, it hit every note that the best fantasy hits, plus several notes I hadn’t heard before.

More than one hundred cultivation novels later, I haven’t looked back once. I have been reading cultivation novels for 11 years.

Before discovering cultivation stories, I was already a longtime fan of fantasy and science fiction. I enjoyed exploring different worlds, magic systems, and character growth. Cultivation novels combined all of these elements with unique Eastern philosophy, qi cultivation, dao comprehension, and the idea that mortals could ascend to immortality. This blend fascinated me so much that I started researching the origins of cultivation concepts from ancient Chinese legends and Taoist ideas to how modern authors adapt them into fiction.

I started the ImmortalCultivationHub to help other readers navigate the vast world of cultivation, fantasy, and mythology. Finding a well-written story with strong world-building, meaningful character development, and fresh takes on classic tropes can be challenging. Many series fall into repetitive patterns after a few arcs. My goal is to save you time by sharing only the novels I have personally read and genuinely enjoyed.

  • In-depth, spoiler-light reviews of immortal cultivation novels
  • Themed recommendation lists (fast progression, strong dao elements, sect politics, beast taming, etc.)
  • Clear explanations of cultivation concepts such as qi ranks, breakthrough realms, heavenly tribulations, dao hearts, and more
  • Comparisons between similar stories to help you choose your next read

I focus on three main sub-genres:

  • Xianxia (Immortal Cultivation)
  • Wuxia (Martial Cultivation)
  • Xuanhuan (Mystical Fantasy)

I am also working on an eBook that explores whether core cultivation concepts could have any basis in real-world practices, drawing from historical myths, legends, and philosophical traditions.

Before my obsession with cultivation novels, I was already a fan of mythology and exploring world mythology.

I’ve now spent twenty years following world mythology, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Norse, Mesoamerican, and more, and ten of those years specifically tracing the Daoist and Chinese mythological traditions that cultivation fiction draws on. The more I understand about Wu Xing (the five elements), yin yang philosophy, the dantian and meridian systems from classical Chinese medicine, the Eight Immortals, and the Chinese Heavenly Court, the richer my reading experience becomes.

You’ll find that mythology content running through this site as a thread alongside the novel content. Understanding where the genre’s ideas actually come from makes every breakthrough scene, every cultivation philosophy discussion, and every divine beast encounter land with more weight.
